This movie actually gets funnier to me over multiple watchings, it has some great moments and great characters, if a little flat in it's writing on occassion.
Before they were called superheroes, they were called 'mystery men'.
This graphix-based film has the odd pedigree of springing from a side-gag for a source hero who doesn't even appear. Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot Comics, about a deranged defender with a giant flaming carrot head, had lurked on indie comics shelves through the '80s. The Carrot's loose affiliation with a gang of goof-ups heroes called the Mystery Men, a street-worn JLA, somehow spun out this film, leaving The Carrot behind in the dust. "Ut!"
